This Too Shall PassPrintable Copy

Revelation 21:1 (New International Version)
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

A king long ago commissioned a study, hiring the best and most wisest scholars. The King wished and desired to know the 4 most powerful words in relation to people. What 4 words that could be applied to everything human. So he sent the group away, and told them not to come back until they had found those four words. The scholars were gone for many years, the king even felt distressed because they were taking so long. What if these words could never be found?

Then one day the scholars appeared in front of the king. They bowed low to the ground. The king said, "Rise, and tell me what you found out."

All but one remained bowed before the king. The one who rose spoke, "O King we apologize for taking so long to return, we knew you to be a fair King. One who clings to his word and promises. Many times we felt we had those four words, only to find one thing they did not apply to. We are sure O King, that we have the four words you look for. With your permission, we
would like to tell you."

The king nodded stiffly for him to continue. "King these words are, 'This Too Shall Pass!' In hard ship it can be applied! In blessing it can be applied! It can even applied to your Kingdom!"

To think that any earthly trouble, any earthly blessing, anything earthly will pass. Heartache, this too shall pass. Any monument, this too shall pass. Any hardship, this too shall pass. All of it earthly, this too shall pass. Even the earth now, this too shall pass.

Revelation 21:1 (New International Version)
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

With God, all things heavenly will remain forever. We are limited because the sin in the garden of Eden brought death into this world. Since then, 'This too shall pass!', shall dominate us until Christ's return. Truly when God said to Adam and Eve....

Genesis 2:17 (New International Version)
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
This is when death entered into the world and dominated us! But thanks to Christ, death has been defeated and we no long need to fear it.

1 Corinthians 15:54-56 (New International Version)
54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."[a] 55"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"[b] 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

For we know all things with Christ are forever. With Christ, those words that have dominated mankind do not apply to Christ. The four words we can focus on is how the bible was finished. These words are a promise, a hope, a blessing that sets us free from death. They set us free from "This too shall pass" These words are:

"Come Soon Lord Jesus"

I say amen to that!
