Faith Without Action...Printable Copy

James 2:26

New International Version (NIV)

26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

This verse is often overlooked, or often misinterpreted.  Some feel that since Christ paid for our sins, that there is nothing else to do.  While others feel they have to earn their way into Heaven.  It saddens me that many Christians take either extreme, while missing the whole meaning of the verse.  I heard a story once that put it in perspective for me.

There was a lady who was really good with finances.   She knew how to manage money.  If given the opportunity, and the enough money, she was confident that she would be able to help the cause of Christianity.  She was so saddened because even though she had this gift with money, she had no money to use.  Why would God bless her with this gift, but not give her the resources.

She began to pray, "God, please let me win the lottery!"  Daily, she prayed, without wavering.  Begging God for the chance to help others with this gift.

After several years went by, God spoke to her.  God simply said, "Buy a lottery ticket!"

As funny as this sounds, its how we all treat God and prayer.  How many people has God put in our path, that we could of told them about Jesus.  How many times have we been in line at the grocery store, and did not let the person with only a couple of items go before us?  How many times have we cursed in front of those who know we are Christians?  How many times have we told others that we would pray for them, only to forget about it a moment later.  How many times have we told God that we would read the Bible tonight, only to fill it with something else.  How many....

We must start and do, not to earn our salvation, but to Glorify Jesus.  We must do it, "For the Gory of the Lamb", even when we are tired and weary and don't really feel like it.

After all its our expression of Love to Jesus.
