29 The next
day John saw Jesus
coming toward him
and said, “Look, the
Lamb of God, who
takes away the sin
of the world!
30 This is the
one I meant when I
said, ‘A man who
comes after me has
surpassed me because
he was before me.’
31 I myself
did not know him,
but the reason I
came baptizing with
water was that he
might be revealed to
Israel.”
32 Then John
gave this testimony:
“I saw the Spirit
come down from
heaven as a dove and
remain on him.
33 And I
myself did not know
him, but the one who
sent me to baptize
with water told me,
‘The man on whom you
see the Spirit come
down and remain is
the one who will
baptize with the
Holy Spirit.’
34 I have seen
and I testify that
this is God’s Chosen
One.”
One night as
my wife and I laid in bed, I was just about to fall asleep, my
wife's voice broke the silence as she asked, "What's the point?"
Even though I heard her, I said, "Pardon?"
She further clarified her question by asking again, "What's the point
of everything we are doing, of our suffering, of living?"
I told her the phrase that I have come to live by, "For the Glory of
the Lamb!" As silence and darkness were about to overcome me once
again, my wife asked, "What does that mean?"
I explained to her, that Jesus was God and that the only way we can
truly fufill our life is to live for Him. Reminding her that Jesus
died for our sins, in the biggest expression of Love. That truly we
can be only happy, when we work to glorify Him and His Name!
My wife then asked, "what is the purpose of life?"
The answer came from my lips, as I felt God's Spirit wash over me!
"We are here to learn to love! Life is a challenge, a lesson on
learning how to love. When we can feel happy, sad, angry,
disappointed, annoyed, wronged, hungry, starving, and still feel
love towards all those who effect us. Then thats the meaning of
life! That Paul himself even wrote, that he has learned to be happy
in all circumstances(Philippians
4:11). And Paul himself, was stoned, beaten, shipwrecked,
abandoned by his friends, and faced many more heartaches than this.
I am convinced that he was able be happy, because he learned what
life was all about, and that he learned how to love!"
My wife was happy with my answer, and whispered ,"thankyou!"
I laid there, now wide awake with that question now rattling around
in my head! What's the Point....?
I have been struggling lately with all the pain, with all the
challenges, and the feelings of being stuck in life. How lately I
have yelled at God, asking Him about all the suffering and pain.
I now realized that God had provided His answer to me, "For the
Glory of the Lamb!"
When I help others when I really do not feel like doing it, "I bring
Glory to Jesus!" When I just keep going, with all odds against me,
it Glorifies God. When I talk with God, even when its to just
complain, I glorify the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 5:12-13
New International
Version (NIV)
12 In a loud
voice they were
saying:
“Worthy is the
Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and
wealth and wisdom
and strength
and honor and glory
and praise!”
13 Then I
heard every creature
in heaven and on
earth and under the
earth and on the
sea, and all that is
in them, saying:
“To him who sits
on the throne and to
the Lamb
be praise and honor
and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
When we can learn to love, even under the direst of
circumstances. When we can love those who persecute us, when we can
love those who hurt us, when we can love those who love us, we have
learned of life's purpose! And by truly loving those around us, we
will Glorify Jesus!
