How to boil a frog..Printable Copy
or
How Sin enters our lives

Romans 16:18 (New International Version)

18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

I heard this from a Cajun friend who really likes to eat frogs.  Instructions on how to boil a frog.

He explained that if you threw a frog into a boiling pot of water, it would simply jump out.  What he had to do was put the frog into cool water, and slowly heat it.  The frog would be comfortable with the gradual temperature change and allow itself to be boiled.  Now it has to be a gradual and slow process, or the frog would detect what was happening and jump out.

Now the devil has the same recipe for cooking and deceiving.  Gradually we allow ideas that are contrary to the Bible into our lives.  Its as simple as:

     - reading a horoscope
     - eating grapes that are sitting in your shopping cart that you have not paid for
     - gossip
     - finding a wallet full of money, and keeping the money from it
     - white lies as we call them
     - listening to questionable music, watching questionable TV shows
     - etc...

These all seem trivial. But the water starts to heat up, and we accept more things.

     - abortion
     - gay marriages
     - homosexuality
     - pornography
     - evolution
     - etc...

Gradually we accept all the things that are lies, and forget the truth.  We begin to believe that the Bible is just a guide book open to interpretation.  We begin to believe that we are all gods.  We forget about Jesus...

The water is boiling and we are dead spiritually!

What can we do to guard ourselves?  Pray, read the Bible, and do what the Bible says.  We must also watch for the subtle things that take us away from God.  When we get the feeling that this is not right, listen to it.  If any person, church, or anybody tells you something that is contrary to the Bible, DO NOT ACCEPT IT!  Do not even consider it!

2 Timothy 3:16 (New International Version)
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
